Like programming, parenting allows one to live comfortably with being both the world’s foremost expert on how people should raise their kids and totally lost when it comes to one's own.

@marco I hope I didn't get carried away with the paraphrasing of your grandma's underwear drawer analogy http://thomaspainerants.com/customer-vs-commodity-and-your-grandmothers-underwear/

@gruber I'm not looking for a link but I would love your feedback regarding something a wrote. It's heavily inspired by you: http://thomaspainerants.com/customer-vs-commodity-and-your-grandmothers-underwear/

What I liked about the @npr coverage of the Boston bombing was that it wasn't 24/7. It was comprehensive but they kept to the facts and acknowledged that there are other things going on in the world. Find me a TV "news" show that does that.

@marco I've got 2 kids, a 4 year old and a 7 month old, and a wagon that I love but it's overkill. We could totally get by with my 96 Maxima. The extra trunk height comes at the cost of visibility so I do my best not to use it but it's nice occasionally.

On the eve of Apple’s announcement of the next iPhone I find myself less curious about the new hardware than ever before. This does not mean, however, that I’m am not look forward to the event. My iOS wish list:http://thomaspainerants.com/an-ios-wish-list/

@chockenberry @gruber what's the argument against a retina cinema display with a built in video card being the soonest available way to get retina on an Air?

"55. Delete Facebook" http://youtu.be/ZGEQmFL9McU You can't fix people by telling them to delete their Facebook account. These problems aren't new and they weren't caused by some external force. They were caused by poor parenting. Tin foil hat included
