*sigh* So Android can't connect to ad-hoc wifi networks, only infrastructure ones. Therefore I can't tether it to use the wifi hotspot on my Nokia N9. Disappointing (and useless)

Anyone installed flash on Android 4.2? I have it installed but Firefox beta doesn't seem to pick it up so it didn't work :-( Various reports of success by others though

Dear @Facebook, you security-incompetent morons. Preventing comments on offer accepts means we can't tell them and their friends people that it's a fake http://t.co/Lh7HZl7O

@oluseyi Fair enough. My issue was with OS-specific apps (which is what causes concerns) I did find it interesting that Spotify decided to use flash when releasing their web player recently
          sxa
@oluseyi I'm not sure what the point is you're making. You started by just telling me to "think about it" My point is that flash etc. are useful cross plat tools. Are you advocating native platform locked apps? HTML5 still isn't being used everywhere
            sxa
@oluseyi You could look at it that way, crucial difference is that it's an (established) abstraction layer cross other platforms. Same applies to browser itself. Either way that doesn't dilute my point

@edent is there a reason dabr's "replies" tab doesn't honour "relative" timestamp option? i.e. always says "22:54" instead of "3 days ago" unlike main feed? True for twitter+adn versions. At least make it a date if over 24hrs ago?
                sxa
I know flash had it's issues but with faster multicore CPUs in tablets it's a shame that a new Nexus10 won't replicate the full desktop Web experience. Maybe I need a £50 ICS one. Or a playbook? ;-) Not such a fan of needing platform specific apps

@la Nice - I was beginning to think that no-one in America had ever bought a WindowsPhone device so at least I know of one now ;-)

So a few weeks ago I asked about lost access to my AdSense account, got no reply, got a survey asking how their dealt with it. Tried again today describing lack of response - back in within 5 minutes. Why not last time? Sort it out Google
                      sxa
@edent Gah had to do that reply twice. First time dabr said it got an http 400 from server so lost the message :-(
                        sxa
@edent I have a similar blog in draft for a while (not happy with content and want my AdSense a/c back before posting) Slightly different angle though -worries me that social media is leading to increased clinical depression in society for those reasons
                          sxa
@la @wdc Hahaa - good answer! I suppose a list of 600 is probably easier to start with than the entire population of app.net though ;-)

@jacobrealo Me too, although in the case of Facebook I can't say I've got any faith that reports go anywhere useful - had no responses in the past ... Have you had any more luck with them?
                              sxa
I should really start using app.net a bit more in the new year. Don't check it as often as I should to make it useful to me ... need to find some more people to follow ...
                                sxa
@jacobrealo On the main timeline page scroll all the way to the bottom, or click "Born" under all the years. I don't have my birthdate/age listed so only shows town as per this image http://imgur.com/6Aa3M
                                  sxa
@jacobrealo The only piece of my profile that has location information is "From: <town>" in my profile (not where I currently am) It's listed as my "Hometown" when I edit profile. That's what it's using as my birth location in timeline
                                    sxa
@jacobrealo I could, but would a screenshot by itself prove anything? Won't look any different than if I'd put it there myself ...
                                      sxa
Dear #Facebook, listing where I consider myself to be "from" should not list that as my place of birth on my timeline. I'm sure that wasn't happening before ...

Can't decide what I think of the Elite:Dangerous #Kickstarter project yet. Paying for a game before you can try it - certainly tugs at the nostalgia strings and would love it to succeed ... http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerous
