        @dalton ADN is a service i pay for because it respects my rights. i'd be neat to use ADN as a host for my email (sandersak.com) along with all the other files I have. I guess it'd be a lot of work though...

          with Gmail down, it occurred to me that App.net would be an awesome service to host email through. Anyone tried this?

                                  Exactly. “@fields: @bynkii I agree - business have costs. Content creation has costs. This is not really in dispute. The question is “how do you pay for those and still make a profit?”. @beaconreader @annatarkov @pamdavis @nitinkhanna @bcb

                                    @bynkii @annatarkov @nitinkhanna @fields @pamdavis @bcb you’re looking off in the distance where @beaconreader has massive archives, I’m focused on if it’s a value proposition that people will pay for.

                                      @bynkii @annatarkov @nitinkhanna @fields @pamdavis @bcb @beaconreader again, it’s not a 1 to 1 comparison. It’s a way of approaching revenue as direct value to consumer not to advertiser.

                                        @bynkii @annatarkov @nitinkhanna @fields @pamdavis @bcb @beaconreader It’s not that I disagree that it’s something to consider, it’s just not as important as understanding how and where revenue will come from to pay for everything.
