@smc The MAS one integrates better with OS X than the ordinary one. The old one kept asking for "trust" every time it was invoked. I'd try to find where in Sys Prefs to give it that trust & never found it. The MAS version just does its stuff.

Folx Pro (website) reverts to the free version which is severely lacking compared to the paid one. It's a great app except for its paranoia in needing to validate its activation number at odd intervals. However, Folx Go & Folx Go + are on the MAS.

For a few years I've been using a download aggregator called Folx Pro but lately the app has been deciding it needs to validate its activation number every week. Fuck that. I've given it the arse & gone with the MAS Pro version instead.

@ukhaiku That's likely. Only in the last 3 weeks have I had more than one Handoff-capable device. The MBA is 2 years old (ex-Apple executive) & the iPhone SE is new. A Mac reseller has had a deal with Apple for 10 years to buy 2-yr-old Macs from them.

My ADSL has gone down. Hopefully never to return, sometime today it's due to be disconnected & be replaced by a new Fibre-To-The-Node connection. I just don't know when they planned on doing the work. Fortunately I can share over 5 GB from the iPhone.

That was unusual. I connected a dual-partitioned HD to my MBA and a window popped up asking me to grant full access to each partition. I suspect that's to do with the CleanMyDrive app I recently added to the Mac.

Although, in defence of the producers of that Ausom magazine, print copies are available. Not a whole lot of use to one fellow in his 80s who can't get a printed copy because he doesn't attend the meetings. Too far to travel.

While perusing the latest (downloaded) issue of our Mac User Group's monthly magazine, I discovered this gem: Images: irony [photos.app.net] Folk are having trouble getting a password & downloading the magazine and the instructions on where to get help are in the download?

I connected my MBA to a new wi-fi network a couple of days ago. I assume it's through the magic of iCloud that the iPhone was also able to connect to that network without me having to enter the access code.

Going to do a battery test on the iPhone SE. I intend to let the level drop to a point where Battery Saver becomes relevant & engage that. Currently at 68%, it's been 15 hours since it was at 100%. I topped it up to 97% by giving it power while used as GPS

--> and downloaded a copy of all the contacts, which I then merged with my own list in Contacts on my MBA. My own iCloud account then distributed the updated contacts to all my other iCloud-connected devices.

Tried calling a friend at the Men's Shed to say I wasn't attending today but didn't have his mobil phone number in my contacts list. I'm responsible in the Shed form maintaining such info on their iMac, so I logged into the Shed's iCloud account & -->

That was a most ugly night. Got to bed around 11:30 pm after a meeting. After about three hours the shivering started, I was feeling way colder than the environment itself was. Went for a long hot shower then donned my thermal… Read More [longposts.net] #adnblog
