@henry thanks, have just landed so not long before I’m home.

My schedule changed yesterday. I’m at Incheon airport and will soon be flying behind the Great Firewall. Looking forward to a few days with my wife and dog! :)

@mjberryman Drinking with a colleague, 5 members of his church are affected by ferry disaster. 1 survivor 4 missing. It’s affecting everybody here (including me).

@charl @ukhaiku I just found out that the nephew of a colleague’s is one of the missing teachers. Others know people whose children are missing.

I have just found out that most of the missing students in the South Korean Ferry disaster are from a High School in Ansan which is where my employer is based (and where I am right now). My thoughts are with all the victims and their relatives.

@smc Ok, thanks. I will see if I can get both.
              paulgit
@smc Do you recommend seeing the film first?
                paulgit
@smc your recommendations are always good….now to get hold of it the Asian way! ;)

                    @alexk @neilco @charl @jenni Why not just create a Windows client?
                    paulgit
I just found out my company has run out of coffee! Somebody should be fired over this, how can I recover from a night of drinking and do work without coffee?
                      paulgit
@smc that's too funny, because it's true. I just want an easy life!
                        paulgit
@smc ...fix rather than to design a solution that will work in the first case understanding the environmental conditions and experience of other engineers. My old boss used to say that they like to modify, modify, modify. I like to engineer and go home.
                          paulgit
@smc actually your suggestion is not silly! Protecting the sensor (laser in this case) would probably resolve the problem but mechanically it's difficult to achieve (though not impossible). These guys like the cheap, quick solution and to iteratively....
                            paulgit
@smc Clearly I should be charging more. To be fair, these guys are keen to provide a solution but lack experience on what will work 24/7 in a dirty, oily industrial environment. One solution I said would only work for a week in production,it was 8 days!

@matigo Yup, though it's all internal gratfication. I am just looking suprised and going with the flow. Only when the shit flies I will dig out meeting notes and email as defence!

@smc Two other similar issues. It's amazing really, why they won't take advice or recommendations from somebody who has worked in industry for 20+ years is mind boggling. Making all the mistakes that were made in other companies I worked for decades ago.

Wow, it's only 8:24 and I have already had 2 'I told you so' experiences. Feeling smug inside right now.

Hahaha. I laughed out loud. photos.app.net/28493784/1

@andrewthornton I actually agree with this point of yours. Recently I have started to walk away from conversations where people check their phones etc They cannot be paying attention to what's being said so I will save my breath. @matigo
