@johngordon@jws@mjtsai Application categories are the categories developers set their app with in the app store. Presumably non-app store apps could set them too although I honestly don’t know if anyone does.
@johngordon@jws@mjtsai I should note I use that UI constantly. Very useful for narrowing down searches. It’s quite powerful. Annoyance is that saved searches have an incomplete UI making them less useful than they could be.

@clarkgoble OS X is clearly in maintenance mode. Which I don't actually mind, but would like them to finish up some of the rough spots. Alas, software companies are usually horrible at maintenance mode.
@johngordon Yeah, in some ways OSX has needed a focus on basic maintenance. El Cap and now Sierra both are focusing on improving all the little broken things. I just wish they could chew gum and walk at the same time. Still looking forward to Mac Siri.
