@invalidname The West Coast way is we sleep in, then have the last word at work. So ESTers wake up and have to read our commit messages and tasks. Get to work on those, Jersey.

@jedi I am super glad we got the shorter syntax, and it's even in the correct key:value order. It's just annoying they couldn't make the parser recognize bare [], {} as the delimiters.

@jedi There were way too many tags proposed. If it'd had maybe 5 or 6, it might've passed.

@jedi Comments and indentation I have no trouble switching. @"", @[], @{} instead of "", [], {} is ugly, but I usually remember to @ all the things. No tuple unpacking, and print("%d" % (i,)) vs. NSLog("%ld", (long)i) are what make me crazy.

@laurakalbag @uliwitness Back when I was a web guy, all the UI toolkits were JS libraries for making smart widgets, and they made it massively easier to build a stable web site. You wouldn't start from scratch.

What could be better than non-technical people running OS X betas? They'll surely have the sense to identify OS bugs and app incompatibilities, and won't whine to app devs. And they'll make plenty of backups. This is gonna be just fine, Apple.

@mgrimes @secboffin Sort of, XP is based loosely on Toyota's methods, and both XP and more accurate (but less applicable to software) translations of Toyota's methods became "Agile".

@cp The one attractive thing about another Clinton presidency would be how insane and angry it would make the GOP assholes. If they're this worked up over a grandchild, the actual run's gonna be hilarious.

Updating the iPhone took like 5 minutes. iPad's been at it for >20 minutes, and the progress bar's at 25%.

@jedi The pit collision is the only thing ET really got wrong. It would never have been on par with Pitfall, Raiders of the Lost Ark, or Star Raiders, but no worse than fighting ducks in Adventure.

Fixing E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial for the Atari 2600 [www.neocomputer.org] is far more interesting. What was wrong and how to fix it. Have not tested the new ROM, though.

The ET dig is the trashiest (literally) thing I've seen since Geraldo Riviera's endless Hoffa "investigations". Who cares? It was a bad game, a friend had it and I played it, but the fetishization of it is weird.

@redqueencoder ruby(ruby) people are mostly marvellous polymaths who were poetry majors and are interested in everything. ruby(rails) people are mostly narrow-minded, arrogant sniping teenagers who just need a smack in the mouth.

@jessicadennis Because the HP/Palm Pixi was murdered by Apotheker, RIM is dead, and Androids have to be huge to have any battery duration, so the iPhone's about the smallest thing on the market.

@richardbuckle The Java vulnerabilities are mostly from the C layer, which is unsafe (buffer/pointer crap). If the JVM was built in Java, it'd be nearly unbreakable.
