@muncman @duerig Except that the months of service seem to be the perk, and the book/e-book the actual deliverable.

@johngordon We haven't come to that so much as to a lot of besmirched reputations (say, the FBI's), plus a confusion of majorities (which already imply a significant minority viewpoint) with simple authority on simpler questions.

I had to reinstall Riposte to escape from Readability Hell, where my Readability glasses were stuck on, but Readability [readability.com] (which is no more) was giving me a custom 404 instead of the unreadable original page.

@duerig I guess that's what "You can reserve your Micro.blog username even before the book is finished" means.

@duerig I’ve been following the project, so I’m not so confused that I won’t back it, but I’m confused enough to worry about its prospects. At least it’s a good opportunity to see whether the new phone restored my correct Kickstarter account…

@duerig I’m a little disappointed by the kitchen-sinkness of tossing a book into the kickstarter; I think it further confuses the message: “Micro.blog is rolling out with a Kickstarter project.” What does that even mean? Is it out? In beta? Wha?
              mcdemarco
@prometheus Sorry for the late reply; I switched phones and didn’t realize how much wasn’t restored to a functional state–including Riposte. (And the darn thing keeps grousing about all my 32-bit apps. I didn’t even know my old phone was behind in bits.)
                mcdemarco
@prometheus I think it needs time (and luck) to get past all the political fervor that came from starting up during the election, and to reach the technical level of ADN. I’m not sure that’s going to happen with Apple keeping them out of the App Store.

I signed up for gab.ai. I don't know if I'll end up using it, but it strikes me that free speech is a good angle for an aspiring microblogging platform--though perhaps Twitter's dive into censorship would have come too late for App.net either way...

The journal article about the four species of giraffe: http://www.cell.com/current-biology/abstract/S0960-9822(16)30787-4 In short, yes they can interbreed in captivity, but they don’t seem to have been doing so in the wild for about 2 million years now.

PinBlock is on the fritz, so I can't read Pinterest at the moment. Maybe I should find the source code and fix it myself...
