    Was adventuring today and wanted to share coordinates. Best I could do was screenshot from Compass. I thought I could do from Maps.app or Google Maps.app. What am I missing?

        @jws Not bad. Gives me a link I can tap, then get info on location gives apple map URLs with coordinates. So gives me coordinates, but a bit of work. I may need an app...

          @jws I bought $1 a primeval iPhone app: NavClock. Let's me copy paste GPS coordinates like: 44° 55' 56.8″ N, 93° 10' 13.0″ W Too bad Compass doesn't copy/paste!

            @johngordon @jws Pretty annoying you can’t do it from Maps itself. Even on the Mac version.

              @clarkgoble Frustrating. Share button in Maps app seems another way to access that functionality I mentioned in Messages. Can also share via Mail which adds a VCF. Nothing so simple as GPS coordinates in plaintext, alas! @johngordon

                @johngordon Bingo! Compass does let you copy out the coordinates: Long-press on the coordinates and hit Copy from the floating menu. Don’t tap - that bounces you to Maps. @clarkgoble

                  @johngordon Looks like it has to be exactly, and only, the coordinates line of text. Not altitude, not bearing. >_< @clarkgoble

                    @jws @johngordon Yes very annoying there isn’t a “Copy” button in the share menu. And when you share via messages it’s the full map.

                      @jws @johngordon Oh, cool. It’s kind of erratic. Sometimes it brings up copy and sometimes it doesn’t. Will have to remember that.

                        @jws Brilliant! I had planned to try more moves on Compass.app, but you beat me to it. As best I can tell it's never been documented. I wrote it up [tech.kateva.org], with full credit to the discoverer! //@clarkgoble

                          @johngordon You've found the copy/paste feature … formatting options (and support for national coordinate systems) would be great though.
