@johngordon Weird. Mail is head and shoulders better for me in 10.10 than 10.9. Wonder what is different about Michael’s system?

@johngordon Just as another data point: I am a heavy mail.app user but very, very selective about plugins and addons. Even with huge IMAP boxes (multi GB) I hardly have an issue. I do not interface with gmail, though.

@konrad @clarkgoble I think Michael would have checked plugins. I have hunch OS X now has storage layer issues with some hardware; subtle race/timing bugs. Probably dates to 64bit migration. Just an intuition.

@johngordon @konrad @clarkgoble I checked plug-ins to make sure that SpamSieve wasn't the cause. Customers also get lots of crashes with no plug-ins. I'm mainly seeing crashes related to Core Animation and assertion failures in Mail's Exchange code.

@mjtsai Ah. I am also in the very fortunate situation of being able to completely avoid the exchange stuff. @johngordon @clarkgoble

@johngordon @konrad after I said that my Mail started getting unstable - suspect it's a bug in the last . release.

@mjtsai @johngordon @konrad mine is typically crashing in middle of night when I'm not using it. Very weird and annoying as I use my main machine to route all my emails into appropriate folders and clear out spam with SpamSieve.

@mjtsai @johngordon @konrad suddenly my iPhone will have hundreds of messages in my inbox.

@clarkgoble I'm waiting for 2 more point releases before I try Yosemite.

@johngordon I actually like Yosemite a lot. There are some features such as SMS messages in iMessage that I’d never want to give up. Others, such as handoff, I really don’t use.

@johngordon Even the Mail bugs, while bad, are nothing like the huge mail problems with Gmail last year (which I don’t think got fixed until January as I recall)

@clarkgoble So maybe you should not be doing all that filtering client-side? @mjtsai @johngordon

@konrad @mjtsai @johngordon I have some server side but the UI is so much easier on the client
