My follower count on another social network is one person short of a Prince album title. This is doing my head in. #princecounting

On Tumblr's dashboard useful buttons that were once front and centre are now hidden in a dropdown menu. The space they used to occupy is now completely empty. Raw, hooting idiocy. — photos.app.net/6448938/1

Any Emacs users out there with an opinion on the Emacs Starter Kit? http://1tw.org/11aZJNi Obviously I _should_ start from scratch and config as I learn, but Emacs is so bewildering to my Vimfingers I feel I need a bit of help to get going!

Mottram's Law: As an online jubilant gospel disco listening session grows longer, the probability of the Joubert Singers' 'Stand on the Word' approaches one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnAatmJlgpA

And here is some more subdued, but still jubilant gospel disco, Arthur Russel's 'In the Light of the Miracle': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xXhJ2agJCg

Making a wee pot of chilli with Ancho, Chipotle, Lemon Drop and Super Chilli F1. Based on every chilli discussion online ever, I’ll assume this combo is profoundly blasphemous, but it’ll taste delish, so… https://photos.app.net/5556310/1

@patrickrhone Heh, I remember thinking similarly when I read a post about your favourite pens: one of them was on my desk, another was in my pocket. For future reference, I'm the one who doesn't have any Levenger notebooks or children ;-)

Talking of bags, this Maxpedition Three-by-Five pouch thingy is great for small accoutrements. Questionable 'tacticool' styling, admittedly, but it's indestructible and a total Tardis. http://1tw.org/10fTJRFphotos.app.net/5527360/1

@patrickrhone Nor do I, but I couldn't resist. I have a serious bag problem, and always use the same excuse: 'Well, it will obviously last a lifetime, so I'll never need to buy a [very specific type of bag I don't actually need] again!'.

This little waxed canvas knapsack is just delightful! I think I will buy one. http://1tw.org/15THGy5photos.app.net/5526210/1

@patrickrhone Cool! It'll probably be a fair while before I have a draft ready to share, but I'll get cracking next week and keep you posted.

@patrickrhone I might be up for writing a Minimal Guide to breathing new life into obsolete/underpowered computers. Too specific/techy for an MG, maybe? Here's a vague, rambling outline: http://1tw.org/ZMUIsG

Applications that override the operating system's default keyboard shortcuts make me want to travel to the developer's home and redecorate their living room in the style of a Long Kesh prison cell circa 1979.

@patrickrhone Defo. In a few hours with few followers I'm getting great pointers to software, nice messages, &c.. in a way that feels quite different to the 'shot in the face by a blunderbuss loaded with URLs' thing you get when opening a Twitter client.

@duerig My pleasure, and I'm glad you enjoy the site. (Funnily enough, the link to Patter prompted the App.net folk to get in touch re: setting up the @onethingwell account here, so thanks for that!)
