@zero did that movie age well? I am worried that if I watch it again I will be disappointed

@dalton the original has aged well, not sure about the sequels @zero

            @orian @dalton @zero there was a sequel?! Glad I missed it...

@dalton @zero I saw a teaser clip where they are remaking Robocop. Coming out sometime next year. http://rpstpp.net/YD2BBS

@dalton @zero Verhoeven’s Robocop has certainly aged well, the SFX is not the parameter here.

@zero In a perfect world, you could “buy that for a dollar”. ;-)

@orian The first one is classic and timeless. I saw it not long ago and it was fantastic. You have to pardon the effects though. They used stop motion animation for ED-209 which looks kind of odd now mixed with live action. @dalton
                    orian
@zero ED-209 is one of my all time favorite killer robots. I was obsessed with it as a kid.

@orian I never understood why it made dinosaur sounds when it fell over.

@donnywdavis the fact they are remaking movies from my childhood is making me feel old

@dalton I know the feeling lol. It seems like they have run out of ideas sometimes and that's the only option that's left.

@dalton @donnywdavis I still want the Robocop statue to go in Detroit. http://detroitneedsrobocop.com/

@donnywdavis They got funding. Lots of politics though. Last time I was there, there was lots of drama on it. (Kickstarter >> http://mer.gy/16n) / @dalton

@dalton you'll feel old when the remakes are better than the originals. @donnywdavis

@fields there have been several remakes that I have definitely felt that way on haha.

@jmergy nice. They should let them do it. They did get funding after all. :)

@donnywdavis I remember the mayor at the time was freaking-out. It would be like the "Rocky" statue by in Detroit.

@jmergy exactly. They'd win a lot of support I'm sure if they embraced it and treated it like an icon just like Rocky.

@spacekatgal @orian I have no problem with redoing the sfx to make them look not goofy. Many of the SW additions are really nice (cloud city, inside speeders). I hate it when there are substantive changes for the worse (nooooo!, krayt dragon call, greedo).

@zero did you ever see the uncut version that got rated X? The commentary the director made about the boardroom scene & ED’s intro being more gruesome with that 17 seconds cut down was spot on: I was laughing so hard with the never-ending bullet barrage.
                                                              noivad
@orian @fields @spacekatgal I thought Dick said total body prosthesis? Lose the arm. ;) Weller’s suit looked much more mechanical & less like body armor. The way they cut & colored the original made his torso look too thin & thus more robotic.
                                                                zero

                                                                  noivad
@zero yeah, when first submitted to the Ratings board it got an X. So Verhoven cut a bit of the violence out of a few scenes. When released on DVD, they made to unrated director’s cut available. It actually makes the movie more darkly humorous.
                                                                    noivad
@zero as you know he also did Starship troopers which was a parody on our warlike culture, although that fact was lost on most people. NPH’s scenes are the best example of the parody aspects in that movie.
