Shoots & Leaves 1.0.2 is currently propagating through the App Store: bit.ly/1nQxzxB This version fixes bugs with background uploading, uploading over slow networks, & connecting to Dropbox.

Finished two highly-requested features for 1.1 while the kids took a nap. That’s more time I can spend dreading working on other features!

There’s a reason I didn’t support Evernote in the first version of Shoots & Leaves: The workflows aren’t really compatible. S&L sends photos one place, text someplace else. EN wants everything. It’s tricky, but I’ll have to support both ways.

Shoots & Leaves, our new camera app that turns photos into links, is now available on the App Store. https://app.net/b/wk3jg

@indefensible I think Medium sells it as a way for writers to get a bigger audience. But, that audience belongs to Medium. They are unlikely to seek out more of someone’s work. Most writers are better off building their own audience on their own site.

Well obviously you can’t sell a product with a premium price to a mass-market audience when there are free and low-cost alternatives. Anyway, 9 million iPhones.

@indefensible Been using Downcast for a while and I’ve been really happy with it. Playlist options are nice, as is the location-based updating.

@seanhussey Agreed. The one that really drives me crazy is the fade in of notifications on the lock screen. That’s supposed to be glance-able info, instead I’m tapping my fingers, waiting for each one to load separately.

My apologies to the Apple Store employee who asked if I needed help after I’d already checked in for my appointment. “I’m waiting for a Genius” was not meant as an insult.

@ryanbateman You could get in the ballpark with public info. I know there’s been estimates that Google makes $10/year on Android users, for example. You just have to consider that number is lower than what they would have to charge you to let you opt out.

@ryanbateman Unfortunately that’s not simple to calculate. If you offer that, then the number of people looking at ads goes down, and the ad rates go down. Plus, those aren’t just any people, they’re the people who pay for things, so ad rates go down more.

Things I tell my kid daily: Don’t take wooden nickels Look both ways before crossing the street Don’t run with scissors Do or do not, there is no try Never start a land war in Asia Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line And… I love you

@indefensible @mrgan @jimray In theory, that’s what you should get from iTunes Radio.

Looking for a logo/icon designer to create an icon for an app. If you are one, or can recommend somebody, let me know. Bonus points if you’re a designer AND you would recommend yourself.

And yes, I realize all that applies to AirPlay as well. But AirPlay is a feature, not the whole product. And there were stats not long ago showing few people use it. I just can’t see regular people using it, well, regularly.

                                        "Could you pause it?" "Sure." /*Picks up phone*/ /*Slides to unlock*/ /*Types passcode*/ /*Double-taps home to see running apps*/ /*Scrolls through apps*/ /*Taps app*/ /*Taps pause button*/ Yeah, this Chromecast thing seems like a sure bet.
