Is there a Mac app similar to Drafts on iOS?
    indigo
@mina lol Oddly enough that thought crossed my mind this morning.
      jenni
@mina not that i am aware of but you can do similar things in all mac apps with „Services“ (see menu bar, app name dropdown) but that is unfortunately seldom used
        mina
@indigo hahaha I can read your mind :) Indeed we need something like that, always available for texting then export.
          mina
@jenni yeah I see, but I am looking for a lightweight app that can text and ready anytime. Mainly text, you know!
            indigo
@mina You can always type things in any text editor then use the services menu, I suppose. Or PopClip for some things. It’s not that I necessarily have a need for it, I just wondered…
              mina
@indigo yeah I agree, my problem that all text editors are loaded with many plugins, so they are not really lightweight.
                jenni
@mina there are a bunch of pretty great text apps (personally I like text mate for writing since it is v barebones) or iA Writer if Markdown but haven’t seen the sending functionality of drafts.
                  indigo
@mina I’m still looking for the perfect ultra-light text editor.
                    mina
@berklee I was wondering when will you interfere and save me :)
                      mina
@jenni yeah sure iA Writer is my friend. But I use it actually to draft writings (blogs,...). Not sure if I can use for throwing any text. @berklee just recommended me NValt
                        edmundtay
@mina @jenni Try Notational Velocity. I have my notes synced to Dropbox. With Notesy app on iPhone, I am never without access to my text notes :)
                          jenni
@mina @berklee saw that. never heard of it before but looks good. another option for quick text might be Notefile by @robotspacer. it really depends on what you are looking for :)
                            berklee
@jenni @mina GET IT NOW! I downloaded Notational Velocity a few times over the years, but it didn't stick until the iPhone and Dropbox came along. Now it's one of the first things I install. Blazing fast!
                              indigo
@berklee @jenni @mina nvALT is wonderful. And very easy to send clippings to it with services or PopClip. I would really hate to be without it now. I use Notesy on the iOS end.
                                mina
@berklee @edmundtay @jenni @indigo so it's NValt or National Velocity :) Thank you all, I never feel lost with you always around :)
                                  edmundtay
@mina @berklee @jenni @indigo NValt is Notational Velocity with more features. Since I have simple needs, never did upgrade. For new user, NValt should be the correct choice.
                                    edmundtay
@indigo @berklee @jenni @mina For Android, I recommend Epistle. Windows would be ResophNotes. With Dropbox as the glue, your notes are available everywhere. Whoo!
                                      failgunner
@mina if you mean one that let's you type and then do stuff with the text, pop clip mac app sort of does that with its extensions
                                        mina
@failgunner popclip seems nice, with many extensions. I might give it a look. Also got many recommendations for NValt
                                          mina
                                            @edmundtay @indigo @berklee @jenni for Windows my voice goes to Notepad++
                                            indigo
@mina @failgunner PopClip is very good. And you must get nvALT immediately.
                                              edmundtay
@mina @indigo @berklee @jenni Love Notepad++ too. I use it for my heavy lifting. The equivalent on the Mac would be TextMate, TextWrangler or Smultron.
                                                indigo
@mina nvALT isn’t really quite like Notepad. It looks at any number of notes in a folder and does very fast searching, allows tagging, markdown preview, opening a note in anything else that you choose for editing… @edmundtay @berklee @jenni
                                                  mina
@indigo @failgunner I'd love to adhere and get it immediately. But locked in a Windows environment at work :(
                                                    failgunner
@mina haven't seen that one yet but will check it. Thanks.
                                                      mina
@indigo ohh I see, but can't I just open it and start typing my note? @edmundtay @berklee @jenni
                                                        ggirton
@mina yes, I keep Notepad++ open. There is not a Windows analogue to nvAlt or drafts, at least so far. @indigo @berklee @jenni @edmundtay
                                                          mina
@ggirton exactly open all the time, and I open a new tab drop some text and it's there. @indigo @berklee @jenni @edmundtay
                                                            berklee
                                                              @mina Yes, you can. Actually, I keep it ALWAYS open. // @indigo @edmundtay @jenni
                                                              edmundtay
@ggirton There’s ResophNotes for Windows. Not as good as NV on Mac but at least it’s better than nothing. @mina @indigo @berklee @jenni
                                                                berklee
                                                                  @mina I'm sure you'll be more than happy with NV! // @ggirton @indigo @jenni @edmundtay
                                                                  edmundtay

                                                                    mina

                                                                      edmundtay

                                                                        ggirton

                                                                          mina
