I could’ve sworn I heard GLaDOS in the latest trailer for *Pacific Rim*. Turns out it’s deliberately the same actress and a modified version of the effect from *Portal*. A nice homage, and probably appropriate effect for the film.

“the more immediately digestible [cinematic mythologies] are, the more interested audiences seem to be in examining their edges, uncovering their details, and expanding the world” — The Verge review of *Pacific Rim* http://j.mp/1853CaL

Markdown is so underrated as an interchange format. Easy to parse, easy to render, just plain text… All sites should offer ?format=markdown eg: http://j.mp/13a6j3Q

Currently reading *These Days*. Fantastic novel on startups and the role of tech in our lives. Perfectly captures the human side of startups, why people build what they do. http://j.mp/104GKikphotos.app.net/5257546/1

BTW the `activemd` command is pipeable, because why not?

Active Markdown v0.2.0: http://activemarkdown.org Some bug fixes, improved range functionality, less sucky styles, a full reference. #CoffeeScript #ReactiveDocs

*Upstream Color* was terrific. Not as head-scratcing as *Primer*, but still a lot to think about. Also amazing aurally.

When used to refer to the technological network as a noun, I don't think the word "internet" should be capitalized.

Flipboard's app/account requirement to read shared magazines ensures I’ll never read one. Walls are pointless if content is curated. Flipboard’s only edge is a smooth flip effect.

A proper home for Active Markdown: http://activemarkdown.org Also, more of a proper command: `npm install -g active-markdown`

Converted the TangleTemplate.html to Active Markdown. Abstract all the complexity! http://j.mp/131B53q #Tangle #CoffeeScript

Dropbox sync API seems like a fantastic idea. What better way to keep Apple on its toes with improving iCloud. https://www.dropbox.com/developers/sync

@kylepauley And of course we allow for/help with data exporting. Plus, the entire site is actually a JSON API as well: http://j.mp/Vz1OPi Content is data, to us, and we want to make the data as portable as possible.

@kylepauley I personally like the spirit of self hosting, and do it myself for a lot of personal things, but it's still a pain. Also, being a service means we can improve the platform much more quickly and do things not otherwise possible.

@kylepauley service. We'll have a free tier with the basics, and paid accounts for custom domains and advanced analytics. We had a "first draft" version that we're migrating over (signups now closed for the moment), eg http://j.mp/R4WxJM

@nitinkhanna thanks! We actually are considering having basic Markdown parsing inline on-the-fly, because we use it all the time and a good number of our users have mentioned it.

@nitinkhanna More design control is coming. Also, for those who want more, we can do custom development very quickly on top of our API. Images are supposed to be big (but don't have to be)! Good images look gorgeous on 27in displays + retina tablets.

@nitinkhanna Proper WYSIWYG layout tool and flexible content API, with customizable workflow and content structures for stuff like this: http://j.mp/YhS88l A content-first management system, if you will.
