Is the 11" MacBook Air a good computer? I am thinking about getting a better writing machine. Must be good for browsing, too. No iPads.

@ablaze it's excellent. I prefer the 13, but many of my friends swear by it

@nicoles Do you know how the battery performs anecdotally in comparison to the 13?

@nicoles Not bad. I wonder if I should hold out a while, though. Rumor mill says next generation will have a new body style.

@ablaze you can sell a 2012 MBA for nearly what you paid in 6mos if true

@nicoles Hm, interesting point. I never take on the risk, usually. I just deal with crappy stuff until the perfect one comes out.

@ablaze I've never ever had trouble selling, so I just factor it in. You live in the Bay Area no? Just install yard sale on your iPhone. ;)

@nicoles Yeah, I suppose there’s a pretty constant hunger for Macintoshes here.

@ablaze I bought my wife the 11-inch Air and keep threatening to steal it from her when I travel. Since I use photoshop and other big apps, I can’t make it my primary computer, but I wish I could. I bet you’ll love it.

@drbarnard @ablaze I’m coming to the conclusion that I’d be happier with an iPad mini and a 11” MBA than my current iPad 3 and 2009-era MBP. I’m in no rush to spend money though. The iPad never clicked with me for serious work. It always feels clunky.

@richg @drbarnard @ablaze I think the iPad does the MBA's job for writing (all but develpment, really) better, especially with a Zagg or Logitech keyboard. The MBP retina 13" isn't too good, though, I'm waiting for the next rev.

@mdhughes @drbarnard @ablaze Not for me, it doesn’t. And I have the (slightly too small) Logitech Ultrathin. It’s awkward on my lap, I hate the task switching, I can’t customise anything beyond TextMate macros, and I prefer a file system.

@richg @drbarnard @ablaze Textastic, Nebulous Notes, others have a file system. Final Draft seems awesome for screenplays. I do a lot of work in Pages. But sadly there's no Scrivener or BBEdit for iPad yet.

@mdhughes @richg @drbarnard I can’t do work on an iPad. I need windowing. I’m pretty sure an 11” Air is what I want, I just don’t think I can live within 128GB of space.

@ablaze Had an 11 for a while, they're incredible. Probably still my favorite Mac, even though I switched to rMBP + iPad for portable writing. Definitely recommend.

@cfn I don't know if I believe in that thing. It seems too good to be true.

@ablaze the reviews are pretty solid
