I'm not sure why I think I'll enjoy a smaller screen size, I just find myself thinking "this screen is just a little too big" pretty regularly. On a 13" Air now.

@ablaze I switched to a new 15" MBP, and its really nice. However, even two months after the switch I still miss my old 17" screen

@dalton I want the thinnest, lightest, one-task-at-a-time sized machine I can get.

@ablaze The only problem with going below 13 is the keyboard starts to degenerate.

@dalton @ablaze I was beginning to think I was the only one left who liked the 17" MBP.

@dalton Any chance to see a service here like: keep last 200 posts and kill old ones in queue… freshed up every single day. Nice interview @cmd+space!

@matthew I thought the 11 had the same exact keyboard as the 13.

@dalton I’m thinking I might replace my 2010 17” with a late 2011 refurb. Good price on those now. Some just need that extra screen real estate. I’d rather wait for gen 2 of the Retina MBP anyways.

@pilgrim @dalton I loved my 17". I extended the life of it with an SSD, but even it was just time to upgrade. If a new 17" came out I would def. switch to it

@dalton @pilgrim I think the 17" will return when they can do it retina.

@dalton @pilgrim The late 2011 model is still incredibly fast, specially with an SSD, as the chipset is capable of 6GB/sec SATA. it's unsupported by Apple, but you can also max the RAM out at 16GB.

@dalton @zero @pilgrim I got my MBP 17'' for the same reasons as you guys. But when I compare it to my girlfriend's MBA 13'' this thing looks like a tank: too heavy.

@dalton I did the same. It's just starting to show its age. I'm very tempted by the 15" rMBP, but I would take a 17" in a heartbeat if available.

                              @fields @dalton I don't know if I can wait that long. :(

@dalton @jesriera I still don't understand why everyone says the 17" is too heavy/bulky/etc. Sure, it's bigger than the new super thin stuff Apple has now, but it's not a huge burden to transport or anything. I still see many laptop PCs that are bulkier.

@ablaze I transitioned from the 13" to the 11" and it's fantastic. Runs a 27" Cinema display when I'm at the office. Just needs two things to be perfect: Retina and touch. A higher RAM ceiling would be nice, but for my work, 4 GB has been fine.

@ablaze Ah, the ceiling is 8 GB now, so that's good. I'm using the previous generation 11" i7 model.

@rrbrambley @dalton @jesriera I’ve went the other way. I used to get anything I could to have more screen real estate, but years after I switched to Mac and changed to more minimalist workflows for what I do, I’m down to the size of the 11” MacBook Air.

@rrbrambley @dalton It’s heavy compared with a MBA or if you have to take it with you everyday as I used to. Apart from that, the reason why I got it is still valid: it’s awesome working with a 17’’ screen. A MBPr 17’’ would be awesome.

@rrbrambley @dalton @jesriera I love my 2011 17” but since I started walking and biking more my back informs me that an Air or a 13” retina might be a good idea. What we really need is a Thunderbolt Display which folds up. 😜⚡

@ablaze Yeah, I had to go with a 256GB model. It's still cheaper than the base 15" MBP that is typical standard issue at work.

@rcg @dalton @pilgrim I bought a 15” to save a bit of money, in retrospect I wish I’d bought a 17”. Though interestingly enough, apparently the 17” doesn’t have an SD card slot, which the others do have.
